Banking and sustainability: innovation through the business model

The banking system plays a crucial role in the great environmental and social transformation. However, in the current scenario of strong debate on sustainability, characterized by geopolitical instability and risks of disorderly transition, the banks are facing a strategic choice played between continuity and innovation. The article aims to frame critical scenario factors and identify pathways for innovation that will enable banks to transform sustainability into a lever for value creation. So the key elements of a new Esg business model and the evolution of governance will be theorized, commenting the hard path of sustainable finance and concluding with solutions to win the Esg data challenge.
